Paul Finebaum Names Best SEC Team Of The Last 10 Years

Some dominant teams have come through the SEC, like the various Alabama Crimson Tide teams under Nick Saban, the 2010 Auburn Tigers, the 2017 Georgia Bulldogs, and the 2015 Ole Miss Rebels. While Alabama and Georgia have dominated the 2010s, Paul Finebaum mentioned another team recently.

A recent episode of "The Paul Finebaum Show" featured the SEC Nation cast member picking his top team from 2014 to 2024. His pick was another incredible SEC West champion, but it was not Alabama. Finebaum picked 2019 LSU as the best SEC team of the last decade.

"...The best team really came down to 2020 Alabama and 2019 LSU. I'm going to side with LSU," Finebaum said. "Their offense was simply spectacular. The defense could have been better at times, but down the stretch, they bulked up, and it was just a team for the ages."

Finebaum was right in saying that the 2019 LSU offense was spectacular. The offense featured quarterback Joe Burrow, wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and tight end Thaddeus Moss.

After transferring to LSU from the Ohio State Buckeyes, Burrow won the Heisman in 2019. LSU beat the Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoff that season. Burrow was the first-overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Chase, Jefferson, and Edwards-Helaire are all in the NFL as well. Chase is a teammate of Burrow in Cincinnati, Jefferson plays for the Minnesota Vikings, and Edwards-Helaire plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.

It will be interesting to see which SEC team stands out this season. There is plenty of talent to go around in the conference in 2024.
