Francisco Lindor smacked a ball past the bullpen for his 23rd home run of the year. Lindor is in his fourth year with the Mets.

Lindor has put up excellent power numbers from the shortstop position. He has hit at least 20 home runs in every season with the Mets. He is coming off of a 31 home run season and we will see if he can hit that 30 home run mark again this year.

He is their star and leader. This recent run has exemplified Lindor’s role on the team. Despite the team’s struggles, the shortstop has continued to perform. Lindor is on an eight game hitting streak. He has five multi hit games in the eight game hit streak.

He has a hit in every game but one in August. Hitting is so contagious and it is so much easier to hit well when there is hot hitting around you. Right now, no one outside of him is hitting well. Lindor is often hitting with no one on base, but he is still performing at an elite level. He has a .333 average in the month so far.

Lindor’s capabilities as a leader go way beyond his ability as a player. The 30 year old is usually incredibly positive and friendly to his opponents. However, when he feels a teammate has gotten slighted, he will be the first player to act on the matter. Lindor sets the tone in the dugout if he believes that a pitcher is trying to hit a Met. He will be the first player out of the dugout and the first player to say something.

As you can see, after he hit the home run he did the OMG! celebration right at the Oakland A’s dugout. Lindor was clearly making a statement to Austin Adams who mocked the celebration and the song yesterday.

It is always nice to see your key players show some emotion, especially when the team is struggling. Lindor knew what he was doing. Yes, he was getting back at Adams, but he was also getting his teammates amped up.
