'Bad Blood!' Colts' DeForest Buckner Talks Chiefs Rivalry

Rivalries are the best part about football. There have been some great ones over the years. The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers are the oldest rivalry. The Dallas Cowboys against every other team in the NFC East.

The Kansas City Chiefs and (now) Las Vegas Raiders have one of the most intense hatreds between any two teams in the league dating back to 1960. But Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner says there’s “bad blood” with the Chiefs.

“I think definitely there's some bad blood between the two teams, for sure,” Buckner said. “It's definitely one of those rivalries you've got to look out for.”

Looking back, the last time the two teams met was nearly two years ago, a 20-17 win by the Colts in 2022. The two teams aren’t scheduled to play each other this season either, unless both teams make the playoffs that is.

I think “rivalry” is probably a bit too strong of a word for this particular situation. These two teams don’t play often enough to have a rivalry.

The Chiefs biggest rivals are the Raiders, Chargers and Broncos, in that order. They play each other twice per season. Then throw in most recently the Buffalo Bills. The Colts aren’t even on the radar.

The last time the Chiefs and Colts played in the playoffs was quarterback Patrick Mahomes first year and they sent the Colts packing 31-13 on their way to winning the Super Bowl.
