The Philadelphia Phillies (70-50) entered Thursday off a monumental win on Wednesday. That monumental win seems to have gotten the Phillies back on track as they have jumped out to an early 4-0 lead over the Washington Nationals (55-66) on back-to-back home runs.

The inning started with a four-pitch fly out to right field from Kyle Schwarber . With one out, Trea Turner , back in the lineup after a day off Wednesday, would collect an infield single to third base.

Bryce Harper would swing at the first pitch he would see, lining it into right field for another one out single moving Turner to second. Bohm would step to the plate with two on and one out, before this would happen:

Bohm would take a first-pitch curveball for strike one. He would then get an 0-1 four-seam fastball up in the zone that he would pull into the seats in left field for a three-run home run, his 13th of the season. It would extend his MLB leading on-base streak to 32 games.

Just one batter later, Nick Castellanos would come to the plate with the Phillies up 3-0. Then, this would happen:

Castellanos would foul a first-pitch fastball off, falling behind in the count 0-1. He would then receive a hanging splitter and get all of it, pulling it into the seats in left field for a solo home run. It was his 16th home run of the season.

The Phillies would bat around in the first inning, but no more runs would come across.

Zack Wheeler is on the mound for the Phillies tonight, and has looked sharp early. Those four runs could be huge as this game goes on.
