Titans DB Sends Piercing 49ers Warning to Ex-Seahawks Teammate

The Seattle Seahawks secondary made quite a few plays against the Tennessee Titans offense during Thursday’s joint practice in Nashville.

Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon broke up a pass during red-zone drills and began to talk some smack on the sidelines — something his former teammates-turned-Titans defensive backs Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs didn’t take kindly to.

Witherspoon may have gotten some solid jabs in but it was Adams who ended up getting the last laugh.

“You better get ready because San Fran is gonna have that a--,” Adams yelled at Witherspoon, via ESPN’s Turron Davenport.

To Adams’ point, the 49ers-Seahawks rivalry has been fairly lopsided in recent years.

San Francisco has won the last five meetings between the two teams, outscoring Seattle 148-72 in those games, and leading the series 5-4 since 2020. All but one of those five wins came by double digits and the 49ers held the Seahawks to 16 or fewer points four times.

And while Adams’ words were surely piercing to not only Witherspoon but the rest of the Seahawks players, once the dust settled on the joint practice, Adams and Witherspoon appeared to have made up.

“Jamal, that's my boy, that's my dog, so we can talk trash to each other and it's nothing but love,” Witherspoon said. “So, that's why me and him do that all the time.”

    Diggs echoed Witherspoon’s sentiment.

“If y'all could have been in our DB room last year, that's small talk,” Diggs said after practice. “That's just how we talk. I miss those guys, I love those guys…. Ya'll know Spoon, you see how Spoon gets down, that's how he, and all the guys, that's dope. That's a brotherhood for life.”
