Several coaches, including a few in the SEC, are in hot water heading into the 2024 college football season.

According to BetOnline , the two most likely candidates to be fired first are head coach Sam Pittman of the Arkansas Razorbacks and head coach Billy Napier of the Florida Gators. Pittman has a record of 23-25 in his four seasons at Arkansas, with two winning seasons. One of his notable achievements was a 9-4 campaign in 2021. However, he has struggled to maintain that success. On the other hand, Napier has a record of 11-14 in his two seasons at Florida and has not yet had a winning season.

According to ESPN's Paul Finebaum , Napier is likelier to keep his job than Pittman due to lower expectations and apparent support from his bosses.

"I think Billy Napier is in better shape than Pittman only because the expectations are so low," Finebaum said. "I'm not saying that they are high in Arkansas, but people have almost, including his boss Scott Strickland, have already baked it into the cake that he's got time to turn this thing around."

The Gators face a tough road ahead to returning to their winning form from the late 2000s. They have one of the most challenging schedules in the conference. The Gators will play against eight of the conference's top-25 teams, including four in the top 10.

Conversely, Arkansas faces one of the toughest schedules in the conference. The Razorbacks will play seven teams ranked in the top 25 but only two in the top 10.

So, only time will tell whether either of them can have a rebound season and save their jobs.
