Another Cincinnati Bengals First-Round Pick to Miss Some Time

Already, the Cincinnati Bengals have seen Chris Evans , D'Ante Smith , and Cam Sample's seasons end before they even began. Guys like Trent Brown , Amarius Mims , and Sam Hubbard got dinged up with Mims expected to miss a few weeks.

During the Bengals' joint practice with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, Myles Murphy went down with what looked to be a non-contact injury. The coaches and training staff took their time working on him and the drill was moved down the field, indicating the injury might be a bit more severe.

However, after some tests, Murphy himself let Bengals fans know they can rest easy.

Based on his comment, it looks like the Bengals will be without Murphy for Thursday's final preseason game and, at worst, Week 1 vs the New England Patriots.

The Bengals'  defensive end depth has been tested this summer. Trey Hendrickson wasn't practicing full time, Hubbard missed time, Sample is done for the year, and now Murphy is set to miss a little time. Thankfully, it's not too serious and he should be back for that pivotal game at the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2.

Murphy and Joseph Ossai are expected to step up this fall as the second line at defensive end. The Bengals pass rush hasn't been quite up to snuff of late. Whenever Hendrickson has been off the field, it's been non-existent.

Murphy was a first-round pick out of Clemson from the 2023 NFL Draft and was always viewed as a project with high upside due to his athleticism. There's a feeling that, once healthy, he could break out for Cincinnati and become a real contributor in his second season.
