'A Lot In The Tank' For Chiefs' Juju Smith-Schuster

The Kansas City Chiefs have loaded up Patrick Mahomes' weapons this offseason with Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy to compliment the pieces already on the roster.

But then the front office added Juju Smith-Schuster after he was released by the New England Patriots after just one season to add yet another option for Mahomes.

In his only season with the Chiefs in 2022, Smith-Schuster produced one of his better seasons in the NFL, totaling 933 yards and three touchdowns from 78 receptions.

But he isn't sure he'll be able to reach those heights in 2024 given the abundance of talent around him.

“A lot in the tank,” Smith-Schuster said of how he's feeling. “I don't know if I'll be able to match those numbers [of] couple years back because we got so many weapons, only one ball in football. You got a running back, you got [Travis] Kelce, [Xavier] Worthy,Hollywood [Brown]. Rashee [Rice] Skyy [Moore], Mecole [Hardman] you have so many guys in this offense where you can do so many things.”

With the Chiefs chasing a third successive Super Bowl, getting Mahomes, who still managed to hoist the Lombardi trophy with what could easily be called the worst receiving unit in his career, more weapons was a no-brainer.

And Kansas City has done just that, with a speed element now added to give Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid the option to hit home runs again.

Smith-Schuster while not a big reception receiver, will step in when called upon and will be looking to play his part in what could be a history-making 2024 season for the Chiefs.
