Why Steelers' Mike Tomlin's Streak Could End in 2024

The Pittsburgh Steelers , despite some flawed rosters at times, have been the model of consistency under coach Mike Tomlin.

Since Tomlin's arrival in 2007, Pittsburgh has yet to finish under .500, a remarkable streak that still impresses. But could that mark be in jeopardy in 2024?

At least one writer thinks so, as The 33rd Team's Dan Pizzuta thinks this year's schedule could be the undoing of the Steelers, despite the many changes made to the roster.

“The Pittsburgh Steelers have two flawed quarterbacks who don’t see the middle of the field well and finished 22nd and 23rd in EPA per play last season. George Pickens is the only plus receiver to go along with Pat Frieimuth, so there won’t be a lot of help in the receiving room," Pizzuta wrote .

"The defense would have to do a lot of heavy lifting. Pittsburgh finished eighth in EPA per play on defense last season but might have to push it to a top-five unit for this to go over."

Steelers general manager Omar Khan completely turned over the quarterback room, expelling Mason Rudolph and former golden child Kenny Pickett, and baptizing Russell Wilson and Justin Fields as the chosen ones.

The Steelers even replaced their much-maligned offensive coordinator, Matt Canada - who was fired in November of last season, with Arthur Smith.

But with questions at wideout, a difficult schedule and being a part of the league's most competitive division, the Steelers could be in for a long season, and Tomlin's streak could come to an end.
