Week 1 of the 2024 college football season had a few surprises.

Florida State dropped their first two games of the season, Oregon had a lackluster performance over Idaho, Georgia blew out Clemson, and USC took care of business against a highly respected LSU squad.

In the updated US LBM Coaches Poll released on Tuesday, Oregon fell out of the top five and Texas moved up one spot to No. 3. The Longhorns dominated Colorado State in all three phases to open the season with a 52-0 win . Steve Sarkisian's squad received one first-place vote in the Coaches Poll this week.

Georgia respectfully remained the No. 1 team in the country while Ohio State held on to the No. 2 spot. The Ducks fell to No. 6, but LSU and Clemson saw the steepest drop in the ranking this week. The Tigers dropped seven spots to No. 19 while Clemson fell eight spots to No. 22.

Texas and Ohio State are fairly close in votes between the No. 2 and No. 3 spot. If the Longhorns put together a convincing win over No. 9 Michigan in Ann Arbor in Week 2, don't be surprised if Texas climbs another spot.

Other teams in the top 10 after Week 1 include Alabama, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Penn State and Missouri.
