Every season, along with the AP Poll and Coaches Poll, ESPN generates its own rankings called the Football Power Index (FPI).

The FPI generations are composed of many factors such as predictive offense, defense, and special teams value, as well as looking at on-field performances in previous games, rest days, and distance traveled. All these factors combined create a single game prediction. In 2016, FPI favorites won 73% of games in the regular season, which was a higher success rate than Las Vegas' closing lines.

Although the AP Poll is the primary poll used in rankings, as well as the Playoff rankings once that begins, the FPI gives another input on how games are predicted before they are played.

ESPN released their Week 2 FPI rankings , and features Alabama ranked second right behind Georgia. The graphic was posted by On3 on X.

As Alabama kicked off their new era of football, one thing remained the same: the Alabama standard.

It may not have been the toughest opponent, but the Tide played very physical and once they got into a rhythm, they were unstoppable.

It's only Week 2, and the tough opponents still await in their schedule, but Alabama could not have asked for a better start than what they did on Saturday.
