Billy Napier's tenure as the head coach of the Florida Gators hasn't been successful. Under his leadership, the Gators have not had a winning season and have not shown any signs of improvement.

This culminated in a blowout, 41-17, home loss to in-state rival the Miami Hurricanes to start the season. The Gators were really never competitive in the game, as they fell down 17-3 in the second quarter, and the Hurricanes never looked back.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum said that if he were athletic director Scott Stricklin, he would publicly urge the fan base to be patient, but privately, he would be looking for Napier's replacement.

"If I were in Scott's seat right now, I would urge patience, but I would also be looking for a new coach on the sly," Finebaum said.

Napier has an impressive record in his seven seasons as a college head coach, going 51-27 during that time. His most successful tenure was as the head coach of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, where he achieved a 40-12 record in four seasons. This included three consecutive seasons with 10 or more wins, concluding with a 12-1 campaign in his final season.

Napier's time at Florida has not been good as the Gators' head coach in the past three seasons, with a record of 11-15. Things don't seem to be getting any easier for Napier as the Gators have upcoming games against five currently ranked teams, with four of those games in a row at the end of the season. Additionally, they have a game against the Texas A&M Aggies next week and Florida State to end the season.

Finebaum feels Napier needs to figure it out, or he may lose his job as the Gators' head coach by the end of the year.
