ESPN's staple college football pregame show "College GameDay" pulled a historic number of viewers during Saturday's Week 1 episode in College Station.

Previewing the top-20 clash between No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 20 Texas A&M, and a full slate of action, Desmond Howard, Rece Davis, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit drew 2.5 million viewers, including 3.2 million in the final hour, the network announced on Wednesday.

That mark represents a 47% increase from Week 1 of 2023. It's the most-watched pre-November episode of all time and the most watched regular season episode since November of 2016.

ESPN made one monumental move to the show's lineup ahead of the 2024 season by adding seven-time national champion head coach Nick Saban as a regular host. He made his 2024 debut in Week Zero ahead of Georgia Tech's upset over then No. 10 Florida State in Ireland.

"College GameDay" will be live from 9 a.m. to noon ET at Ferry Field in Ann Arbor. Kickoff between the Longhorns and defending national champion Wolverines. Kickoff is set for noon ET (FOX).
