The SEC has won 26 national championships in college football, with the last team to win one being the Georgia Bulldogs in 2022. The Bulldogs won two consecutive titles and almost challenged for a third had it not been for the Alabama Crimson Tide beating Georgia in the 2023 SEC Championship.

While the SEC is one of the more dominant conferences in the sport, some teams fell flat in Week 1. The Texas A&M Aggies, Florida Gators, and LSU Tigers lost their season openers. The South Carolina Gamecocks squeaked a narrow win against the Old Dominion Monarchs.

On "SEC Nation," Laura Rutledge asked all the hosts to use one word to describe the SEC following Week 1. Tim Tebow used the word "disappointed" to give a harsh but honest review of the conference.

He believed that Texas A&M, Florida, and LSU did not show how good they were in Week 1.

"...I also think that the entire SEC is better than they showed," Tebow said. "So, for me, if I'm gonna choose a word, I would choose disappointed. Cause they're better than what they showed. LSU is better than what they showed. A&M is better than what they showed. I even think Florida's better than what they showed."

Georgia, Alabama, the Ole Miss Rebels, Vanderbilt Commodores, Arkansas Razorbacks, Tennessee Volunteers, Kentucky Wildcats, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, Missouri Tigers, and Oklahoma Sooners left their season openers with a win.

Luckily for the SEC, there is still plenty of time to get back on track, especially now that the 12-team College Football Playoff is in effect.
