The Texas Longhorns and Michigan Wolverines played in Week 2 for the first time since 2005. That matchup is the only meeting between the two powerhouses in each program's history.

The Longhorns found the end zone early thanks to a Quinn Ewers touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore Jr. However, the points were taken off the board after a holding call.

The officials made the controversial decision late, much to the disappointment of Texas fans. After the penalty, it became a long 3rd-and-21 for the Longhorns. Texas could not convert and had to settle for a field goal, but kicker Bert Auburn missed the 43-yard attempt.

This meeting with Michigan is the first time Texas has faced a Big Ten team since the 2018 season. The Longhorns played the Maryland Terrapins that year and lost 34-29.

Other Big Ten programs that Texas played in the past include the Indiana Hoosiers, Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Northwestern Wildcats, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Purdue Boilermakers, and Wisconsin Badgers.

The Longhorns have proven they can win in a hostile road environment before. Last season, Texas beat the Alabama Crimson Tide 34-24 in Tuscaloosa.

Texas faces the UTSA Roadrunners next week on Saturday, September 14.
