There are a handful of college football teams that are considered bluebloods, but have strayed from the glory they once experienced yearly.

One of the programs that had been down for over a decade but appears to be trending in the right direction are the Texas Longhorns. They made the College Football Playoff last year for the first time, and on Saturday, they dominated the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines on the road.

A win that led to ESPN's Paul Finebaum declaring them back "for good" on Sunday's SportsCenter.

"Back again," Finebaum said as he threw up the Texas hook 'em hand gesture. "And this time for good. Listen all those false alarms are in the past. You can't do what they have done in the last two years and call it a false alarm.

"It was a year ago this weekend they beat Alabama by double digits, and what they did yesterday was really program-defining," Finebaum said of Texas' win against Michigan. "They destroyed Michigan on every aspect of the game. And really, when you look at the score quickly on your phone this morning or on our screen, it's really deceiving. It was much much worse.

The Longhorns left Ann Arbor with a convincing 31-12 win, with Michigan adding a meaningless touchdown at the end to get them to that 12 mark.

They truly dominated Michigan in every way, outgaining them on offense by 103 yards, converting on 10-of-16 third downs and forcing three turnovers. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was the star of the show, completing 24-of-36 passes for 246 yards and three scores as he was seemingly seeing the field in a way that only the elite ones do.

The win actually boosted the Longhorns up to No. 1 in the latest version of ESPN's FPI , surpassing Georgia.

We will have to wait to see if Texas moves up in the AP Poll, but they certainly should be the most confident team in college football at the moment. They return home for their Week 3 game, as they are set to host UTSA on Saturday, September 14.
