Week 2 of the 2024 college football season featured several exciting matchups. Every top-5 team, except for No. 5 Notre Dame, took care of business in their respective contests.

The No. 1-ranked Georgia Bulldogs bulldozed their way to a 48-3 victory over Tennessee Tech, reaffirming their supremacy atop the college football table.

The No. 3 Texas Longhorns also put the league on notice — taking down the reigning National Champion, No. 10-ranked Michigan Wolverines in the Big House with a dominant 31-12 score.

Still, ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum gives the edge to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs after Week 2.

“I’m Paul-in, and I know that is saying a great deal after watching Texas play yesterday, but I feel like Georgia is a notch above,” Finebaum said during an appearance on SportsCenter Sunday morning. “They’ll get each other in the middle of October and we can settle that. By the way, there’s a chance Georgia and Texas could play three times this year in October, in Atlanta in December, and some time, probably for the national championship. I think they are that elite but I think Georgia is in a class of its own and that’s why I am all-in.”

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck put on a stellar performance in Georgia's blowout win on Saturday, completing 18 of his 25 pass attempts for 242 yards and five touchdowns. Texas was also led by elite quarterback play from Quinn Ewers, who notched 246 yards and three touchdowns on 24-36 passing.

The No. 2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes took down Western Michigan with a 56-0 final score.

The new college football top-25 rankings will be released on Monday.
