Paul Finebaum Calls Deion Sanders 'All Hollywood' After Nebraska Implosion
By J.C. Shelton,

It's not a secret that Paul Finebaum is no fan of Deion Sanders at Colorado. The long-time ESPN college football analyst has been one of Sanders' harshest critics for some time.
It seems that Finebaum has some more ammunition to work with following the Buffaloes' crushing 28-10 loss at Nebraska on Saturday night. Sanders and Colorado beat the Cornhuskers 36-14 a year ago, but it was a much different affair in 2024.
After throwing for over 400 yards with four touchdowns last week versus North Dakota State, star quarterback Shedeur Sanders was suffocated by the Nebraska defense. The senior completed 23-of-38 passes for 244 yards with a touchdown and a pick-six. Despite a 10 catch, 110-yard receiving game from star two-way player Travis Hunter, Colorado struggled mightily to put points on the board.
Colorado has relied on the play of this pair to secure wins. But when the opposition shuts them down, the holes on the Buffaloes' roster shine for the wrong reasons. Finebaum believes that Deion Sanders' outgoing coaching style keeps the real issues from the spotlight.
"Deion Sanders is all glitz," Finebaum said on "ESPN College Football." "He's all Hollywood. He's all show. And if you take away all the boot lickers around him from (Robert Griffin III) on down, what does he have? He's got two or three or maybe four sensational players and a revolving door that showed up last night on the line of scrimmage."
Colorado allowed six sacks and 10 tackles for loss by the Cornhuskers defense. That's after the Buffaloes allowed the second most sacks in the country (56) in 2023. One of the potential downsides to using the transfer portal as much as Sanders, who brought in 43 transfers over the offseason, leads to development issues up front.
It doesn't seem like that nagging issue has changed from last season, though it is still early in the 2024 campaign. The Buffaloes will face a long season if things aren't fixed on the line of scrimmage quickly.
Colorado (1-1) will hit the road next week to take on in-state rival Colorado State in a rematch from an overtime win by the Buffaloes last season. Kickoff is set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET (CBS).
