AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Virtually all of Central Texas will be under a threat of severe weather Friday afternoon, as multiple waves of showers and storms move through the area.

The Storm Prediction Center, in its latest update Friday morning, has nearly all of the Austin metro area under a "slight" risk - a 2 out of 5 - of severe storms for Friday afternoon. Just to our south and west, an "enhanced" risk stretches from New Braunfels to Del Rio and Kerrville to Carrizo Springs.

Forecasters say the biggest threat Friday afternoon will be the potential for large hail, especially hen egg-sized or larger. Isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out; damaging straight line winds could also be a concern.

While the severe threat will wane into the weekend, rounds of heavy rainfall could cause some flash flooding concerns. According to LCRA's Hydromet data network, parts of South Austin saw more than a half inch of rain with just showers that passed through Friday morning.
