Arch Manning's Dad Made It Very Clear Why His Son Stayed At Texas

After Quinn Ewers announced his intentions to return to Texas, many experts expected former five-star Arch Manning to enter the NCAA transfer portal this offseason.

Arch's father, Cooper Manning, discussed his son's decision at the Manning Passing Academy this week. He noted that his son's happiness and development were significant factors in the decision to remain with the Longhorns.

"I think there are a lot of people who are probably questioning why he would stick around and asking, 'Why aren't you moving? Why aren't you going somewhere else?' Cooper said. "But the grass is not always greener, you know. When you have children who are happy where they are, you don't mess with it. That's as simple as that.

"It's about the overall happiness and development of your son," Cooper continued. "If he's happy and enjoying school, enjoying his friends, enjoying his coaches, feels like he's growing and getting better, then those are checking all the boxes for why you went to the school in the first place."

Manning saw action in two games last season as a true freshman. He signed with Texas as a five-star prospect out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Manning was the No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2023, according to the On3 industry rankings .

Texas will open the 2024 season against Colorado State on Aug. 31. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
