27-year-old named as a top rising star for Texas Longhorns football program

Working in college athletics and minor leagues can be a meatgrinder, so it's not surprising when young people sacrifice the most in the industry. On Tuesday, 247Sports named its top 30 coaches and rising stars under the age of 30. Prominently on that list was Texas Longhorns Director of Recruiting Operations, Taylor Searels.

At just 27, Searels was one of the youngest stars mentioned on the list. We'll take a look at Searels' contributions to Texas since arriving in 2021.

Taylor, an Auburn alum and the daughter of Stacy Searels, a one-time Texas offensive line coach under Mack Brown between 2011 and 2013, collaborated with Jason Grooms, the Chief of Staff at Texas, while in Nashville. Stacy Searels has since taken a similar role at Georgia.

Before her current position, Taylor dedicated three years at Auburn as a recruiting assistant, after which she progressed to the role of recruiting coordinator at Vanderbilt.

Since joining Texas, Searels has contributed to consistently good recruiting classes. Of course, she is far to blame for any missteps in that time but more likely; she's greatly improved the on-campus experience of athletes looking to rebuild the Longhorns. Here's how the Longhorns have finished in recruiting rankings since 2021:

    15th, 5th, 3rd, 5th, and currently for 2025: 13th.

Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian has done an excellent job building out his staff over the years and nailing the recruiting side of the house as contributed to the program's resurgence. Searels is part of that process, and her rise to this level while still being so young is incredibly impressive.

As someone who worked in college athletics and a professional team in my younger years, these young stars deserve to be recognized for their efforts. It's highly competitive to land any role within an FBS program and people are often unpaid or way underpaid. Searels has helped Texas rise to a national power once again, and we're excited to see where she's headed in the future.
