BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman accused of using a stun gun on her disabled son notified a judge on Thursday she has hired a private attorney.

Tisa Armijo said she retained the Law Office of Mark Anthony Raimondo. Judge Colette M. Humphrey confirmed her new representation, relieved court-appointed counsel and set a preliminary hearing in August.

On July 3, two security guards and a registered nurse at Kern Medical reported seeing Armijo use the stun gun on her adult son — who has the mindset of a 2-year-old — after he was strapped into a bed in a pre-operating room, according to a court filing. He was placed in restraints after becoming combative with staff, the filing says.

Police detained her in the hospital’s parking lot and found a stun gun in her purse, according to the filing.

Armijo faces felony counts of injuring a dependent adult and false imprisonment with violence. She also faces a misdemeanor count of being a felon in possession of a stun gun.
