With the expansion of the College Football Playoff, more games will have a higher impact on the playoff race. It won't just be a few games that matter in determining the four teams that make it into the playoffs. Now, many more games will carry importance with 12 teams included.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum has highlighted two games that he believes are among the most significant of the season, but aren't receiving much attention. These games are the Ole Miss Rebels playing on the road against the LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide playing at LSU.

"I think Ole Miss at LSU and Alabama at LSU, those games are going to eliminate people," Finebaum said. "Those are two of the biggest games of the year that I don't think anybody is really focused on."

Finebaum mentioned that if LSU wins both games, everyone must consider them serious contenders for the College Football Playoff. ESPN's Football Power Index has the Tigers No. 7 in the SEC and ahead of Ole Miss but behind Alabama.

The FPI gives the Tigers a 4.4 percent chance of winning the conference and predicts that LSU will have an 8-4 season. Therefore, these two games could significantly impact the Tigers' playoff chances.

The Tigers will face Ole Miss on Oct. 12, 2024, and the Crimson Tide on Nov. 9, 2024.
