GEORGETOWN – The annual wreath-laying ceremony saluting fallen Georgetown Police Patrolman Chad E. Spicer, who died in the line of duty in 2009, will be held Sunday, Sept. 1.

This solemn ceremony marking 15 years since Officer Spicer’s “end of watch” will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Circle. It serves as an opportunity for the community to honor Patrolman Spicer, a cherished friend, son, father, and a true hero who made the ultimate sacrifice.

On the evening of Sept. 1, 2009, Patrolman Spicer was fatally shot as he and his patrol partner attempted to stop a vehicle involved in a shooting a short time earlier.

The ceremony traditionally draws a large turnout, including community members, elected officials and members of law enforcement, led by the Georgetown Police Department.
