A number of events and flyovers are part of the Memorial Day ceremonies honoring those who gave their all for this country.

    Flyovers

The Oregon Military Department said they are planning 16 different flyovers in just one hour Monday, beginning at 10:25 a.m. over the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

That will be followed by the 11 a.m. flyover at the World War II Memorial in Salem, then the Veterans Memorial Park in Beaverton at 11:15 a.m. They will wrap up at 11:38 a.m. over Depoe Bay.

    Ceremonies

More than 800 Oregonians were killed in Vietnam, with 20 missing in action.

The ceremonies at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland begin at 10 a.m. with wreath-laying and speeches off Southeast Mount Scott Boulevard in Happy Valley.

At that same time, the Vietnam Veterans of Oregon will honor those who served in Portland’s Washington Park.

The Beaverton ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. In Tualatin, model battleships are part of the Memorial Day ceremonies at Commons Lake on Southwest Nyberg Road starting at 10:45 a.m.
