Investigation underway after driver crashes stolen truck and flees, MPD says
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Officers are investigating after a man fled the scene where he crashed a stolen pick-up truck into a tree Monday, authorities said. Police responded to a report from a witness shortly after 11:15 a.m. that observed a truck crashed into a tree in the 1200 block of N Wingra Drive.

VC for university relations candidates to visit campus
Four candidates for the vacant vice chancellor for university relations position at the University of Wisconsin–Madison will visit campus next week for public presentations. The candidate visits will occur from Monday, July 22, through Thursday, July 25. Public presentations will be from 10:20 to 11:20 a.m. daily in the Industry Room at Union South. The candidates’ names and application materials will be available on the search website 48 hours prior to their visits. All materials will require a NetID login.
HIGHLIGHTS: Woodchucks, Mallards split double-header at Athletic Park
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - The Woodchucks and Mallards, the top two teams in the Great Lakes West Division, split a double-header in Wausau. Game one was a rather quiet outing, as the Woodchucks blanked the Mallards 3-0. Max Galvin drove in Drew Berkland off a double-play to score the game’s first run. Two innings later, Galvin drove in Berkland again off an RBI groundout, followed by a Collin Bruggemann RBI single to conclude the game’s scoring.
Some RNC delegations staying in Madison during convention
Six delegations to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee are staying about 80 miles away in Madison, according to a source familiar with their arrangements. These include Texas, which is staying at the AC Hotel Madison Downtown, and Michigan, which is staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Madison East. Others including Washington D.C., New Mexico, New Jersey and West Virginia are also in Madison, though the source declined to provide details on which hotels they’re using.
