Mountain Brook community holds memorial in honor of longtime football coach
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Monday the Mountain Brook community said goodbye to a man many say will be remembered for the impact he had. Mountain Brook high school football announced on social media, the passing of longtime Assistant Football Coach Michael Thorsen. During Monday night’s memorial there was plenty of love to go around for the marine veteran. Head Coach Chris Yeager calls him a man for the ages.
Hoover mother-son duo to compete in Transplant Games
Chase Waters and his mother, Jennifer McCombs Thompson, have a special bond. Waters was born with a rare kidney disorder, and Thompson donated a kidney to her son during his freshman year at Hoover High School. Thirteen years later, the dynamic duo are healthy and active, and ready to compete in the 2024 Transplant Games of America this July in Birmingham.

Blazer Buddies Kids Club Memberships Available for 2024-25
BIRMINGHAM – UAB Athletics has made 2024-25 Blazer Buddies Kids Club memberships available for the upcoming season. Blazer Buddies is the official kids club of UAB Athletics and is open to all kids ages 12 and under. Blazer Buddies will receive a Blazer Buddies Kids Club ID which grants admission to all home men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, softball, and baseball games. As part of a Blazer Buddies Kids Club membership, members will receive free admission to the UAB football game versus Navy, including the opportunity to participate in a pregame, on-field fan experience on September 28, as well as invitations to select men's basketball games.

Explosive second half fuels first-place LouCity’s win at Birmingham
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes Saturday, Louisville City FC’s attack kicked in for a 4-1 away blitz of Birmingham Legion FC. Four players scored at Protective Stadium on a LouCity squad that continued two telling trends. Each time City has lost this season, the boys in purple have rebounded to win.
