Ground breaking ceremonies are complete for a Gainesville affordable housing project
Ground has been broken for an affordable housing complex in the city of Gainesville, targeted to replace another aging housing community. Paces Preservation Partners, in partnership with the Gainesville Housing Authority, held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, July 30 to kick off construction of Harrison Village Phase I. The new affordable apartment community will replace Harrison Square, an aging public housing community that has reached the end of its practical useful life.

Partial road closure planned for Wednesday and Thursday in Gainesville.
Road work is about to begin along a stretch of Gainesville's Mountain View Road later this week. A press release from the City of Gainesville indicates that water main tie-in work is required at 2928 Mountain View Road on Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday, August 1. It will force a partial lane closure on the southbound side of Mountain View Road at the intersection of Old Oakwood Road between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., weather permitting.
City crews working to clear roadways of debris
The City of Gainesville is addressing multiple downed trees and branches resulting from recent severe weather. Public Works crews continue to clear impacted roadways. At this time, the department’s primary focus is clearing roadways to ensure they’re passable. Cleanup will ensue after roadways have been cleared. For downed trees involving power lines, please understand City crews cannot clear any debris until the utility clears the lines.
