Kenilworth 2024 Fire Department Carnival Date Set
KENILWORTH, NJ - The Kenilworth Volunteer Fire Department will continue its long-running summer tradition hosting its annual fundraising carnival from August 12 through August 17 at the David Brearley High School Parking Lot. The event will feature rides for both children and adults, games, food, music, and safe family-friendly fun. Pay-One-Price-Ride-All-Night wristband nights are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. There will be a Money Wheel daily, and also a Super 50/50 grand prize drawing on Saturday night, which has amounted to over $10,000 in past years. Proceeds of the carnival will benefit the Kenilworth Volunteer Fire/Rescue Support Organization. Significant Damage Reported in Parts of Hunterdon County
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - On July 17, 2024, an intense storm hit parts of Hunterdon County. The wild weather event had reported 60+ mph winds, a significant barometric pressure drop and 30 degree temperature dive and was documented by the Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station located at the Snyder Research & Extension Farm in Pittstown. As many as 15,000 households experienced loss of power. Quakertown Fire Company has established a Command Post at the fire station. Representatives from Franklin Township, Police and DPW are engaged with the QFC team; all roads have been driven, all blockages have been noted and JCP&L has been informed of all issues. Trees and power lines are down all over the area, and officials caution drivers to obey the warnings of roads closed and reroute. Downed wires can still be live and can cause injury and death. The Hunterdon Parks Department is also reporting numerous trails with damage. Please follow the guidance posted on trails. Trail goers risk injury as fallen trees can be unstable. Rabid bat found near school playground in Mercer County, NJ
PRINCETON — A rabies test turned out positive for a bat found on Tuesday on the ground in Mercer County. The bat was found that morning near Community Park School’s playground described as “alive and moving,” according to the municipality’s release. Once obtained by Princeton Animal Control Officer Jim Ferry, the bat was sent away for testing, which came back with a positive result.

PLAINFIELD, NJ — Conditions were windy and the sky grew dark, but Plainfield didn't receive the brunt of the stormy weather expected on Tuesday afternoon, when the entire state of New Jersey was put under a severe thunderstorm watch. Around that time, a large, old tree fell at the intersection of Stelle and Central Avenues, perhaps because of the wind.
