BRIGHTON — The suspect in an armed robbery at the Hampton Inn in Brighton has been arrested.

Officers from the Brighton Police Department were dispatched to the local hotel Monday, July 15, around 1:20 a.m. Upon arrival, they were told a suspect had entered the hotel, gone into the bathroom, and left the building. He returned wearing a mask and armed, according to a news release.

The release did not specify what kind of weapon he carried.

According to police, the suspect went behind the front desk, where an employee was sitting, opened the cash drawer, took the money and left the hotel. The employee was uninjured.

Responders secured the scene, set a perimeter around the area and searched for the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

Police arrested a 22-year-old Howell man around 4:15 p.m. Monday, according to a news release. Responders did not identify the suspect, but said he was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Livingston County Jail.
