Two Minnesotans were killed and another person was injured after crashing into a tree in western Wisconsin over the weekend.

The Burnett County Sheriff's Office said its dispatch received a call from OnStar at 2 a.m. Saturday that reported a crash near 28624 East Bass Lake Rd. in Oakland Township.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found the crashed car with three occupants inside. The driver, Layne W. Leitner, 25, of Bloomington, and the front passenger, Kyle R. Orloske, 34, of White Bear Lake, were dead at the scene.

A third passenger was still trapped inside the car but was freed. The surviving passenger was taken to a hospital via air ambulance.

Police requested the Wisconsin State Patrol for a crash reconstruction. Initial reports indicate the car was 120 feet off the road before striking a tree.

While alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash, this case is still under investigation.
