“48 hours … in Baton Rouge” felt at home here even though the producing organization, Harlem9, is from New York City. They partnered with the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and the national One Nation One Project campaign “Arts for EveryBody” to bring the festival to the city. Over the weekend, six playwrights, six directors and 18 actors met for the first time, split into six companies, and then wrote and rehearsed 10-minute plays meant to respond to the theme “No Place Like Home,” an assigned piece of visual art by a local artist and a health disparity that disproportionately impacts people in the area.
