Sunday PM Forecast: Rain chances declining, but coming at a cost
Rain will be harder to find during the upcoming workweek. This in turn will allow temperatures to climb higher. Tonight & Tomorrow: The few showers and storms that were out and about on Sunday afternoon will gradually fizzle out with the loss of daytime heating. Expect a few clouds into Sunday night. It will be warm and humid with an overnight low near 78° in Baton Rouge. The area will fully be under the influence of an upper-level ridge of high pressure on Monday. This will crank up temperatures and reduce the number of rain-cooling showers. The latest Storm Station forecast calls for roughly 20% of the area to receive measurable rain on Monday – and that might even be a stretch.

Top 100 power forward sets September official visit with LSU
LSU’s quest for its first commitment in the 2025 men’s basketball recruiting class continues, but it remains in contention for several of its top targets and will soon play host to one of them for an official visit. The Tigers made the list of finalists for four-star power forward Matt Gilhool, who ranks as the No. 77 player nationally. Gilhool has now set a trio of official visits starting with Georgia Tech (Aug. 31), followed by LSU (Sept. 7) and Iowa (Sept. 14), according to On3. Gilhool already took an official visit to Syracuse last October. On3 currently considers the Orange the favorite, though they aren’t among his top seven. LSU seems to have some ground to make up with the Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, prospect, but it will have the chance to do so when it plays host to him in the fall. After getting off to a red-hot start in the 2025 cycle with several consensus five-star pledges, things cooled off a bit for LSU in May and June, when it lost a pair of top commitments. The Tigers’ class already ranked highly before those pickups, but after recent additions, LSU’s 2025 group has moved up from No. 5 to No. 3, according to ESPN’s team recruiting rankings.
