Thibodaux Police investigating Sunday night shooting at bar
The Thibodaux Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place at a bar on the 400 block of Gerald T. Peltier Drive on Sunday night. Police Chief Bryan Zeringue said that at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, authorities were called to the above location to investigate a call of a shooting. Detectives have learned that two subjects were shot during the incident. The incident remains under investigation and more information will be released as the investigation continues. The victims were taken to a local hospital and their condition was unknown as-of early Monday morning.

Melanie Davis's son, Samuel Anthony Davis, is buried toward the back of Holy Sepulchre Cemetery — a deep, wooded burial ground situated in Lafayette's Truman neighborhood. The site is home to hundreds of graves interred in quiet surroundings just off Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, with mature trees and grassy expanses giving the place an air of peace and contemplation. But grasses quickly grow wild in the heat and wet of South Louisiana, leading to deteriorating tombs and lack of foot access for family members. And Davis says that when she buried Samuel in 2001, she didn't know that they would have to maintain the grave themselves.
