One person is dead after a crash that closed President George Bush Turnpike in Carrollton for hours on Monday afternoon, officials say.

A car driven by 31-year-old Jose Rojo of Irving broke down on the southbound side of the highway Monday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

When Rios got out to take a look at his car, he was struck by another vehicle driven by a 76-year-old woman.

Rojo was transported to Medical City Lewisville, where he was pronounced dead, according to Texas DPS.

There were two passengers, including a 6-year-old boy, in Rojos' 2002 Toyota Camry, they were both uninjured, as was the woman who struck him, who was driving a 2023 GMC Acadia.
