18-year-old Hayward man shot to death in city's 7th homicide of 2024
HAYWARD -- An 18-year-old Hayward man was shot to death in Hayward Saturday morning in the city's seventh homicide this year, police said.Officers got a report of a shooting in the vicinity of the intersection of Pompano Avenue and Sumatra Street around 10:31 a.m., police said. Minutes later, additional reports came in about a shooting near the 27000 block of Havana Avenue, which is about a block from there.Officers went to Havana Avenue and found the 18-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds in the driver's seat of a vehicle that appeared to have hit a parked car after an apparent shooting, according to police.The man was taken to the hospital, where he died from his wounds, police said.Police are not releasing the victim's name yet, and no one is in custody for the shooting as of yet, according to police.Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Green at (510) 293-7176.

Man accused of fatally shooting wife, in-laws, and 2 young sons at home
ALAMEDA, Calif. (TCN) -- A Northern California man was arrested for allegedly killing five of his family members, including his two sons, ages 6 and 1. Alameda Police Chief Nishant Joshi said in a press conference that on the evening of July 10, someone called 911 to report their neighbor had been shot on the 400 block of Kitty Hawk Street. Officers arrived and started assisting the injured victim, then found out about additional victims at a residence nearby. 2 big rigs collide on Highway 680 in Alamo, temporarily blocking all northbound lanes
A crash involving two big rigs on Interstate Highway 680 in Alamo temporarily closed all northbound lanes Tuesday morning.The crash happened on northbound 680 north of Livorna Road at about 4:10 a.m. One of the big rigs jackknifed in the collision, blocking all lanes.No injuries were reported. Traffic on the northbound 680 onramp at Livorna was also closed.All lanes were reopened by 6:44 a.m., although the California Highway Patrol said residual delays remained. There was no word on what caused the crash.
