Another day of rockfish and lingcod fishing along the coast with slower action that we’ve had for the past couple weeks primarily due to tackle choices. The coastal fish are feeding on anchovies big time right now so the crew will recommend live bait leaders to fish both the rockfish and lingcod >>>> it’s best take the recommendation of the crew until you feel you can play with whatever you feel will attract your trophy. We finished up with 240 rockfish and 25 lingcod for our 24 anglers.

Now We Know What’s Replacing Slanted Door in the Ferry Building (Sorta)

The guessing game about what will happen with Slanted Door’s Ferry Building location has finally ended. Alex Hong, the chef behind Michelin-starred Sorrel in Pac Heights, announced Tuesday that he is opening a new restaurant and bakery in the expansive Slanted Door space, with an expected opening date of early 2025. Details are scarce on the style of food and the name of the new project, but a press release teases that it will be a “large format, full-service restaurant offering a seasonal ingredient menu rooted in the bounty of the California coastline.” The restaurant will have an open kitchen, seated bar, outdoor seating, and showstopper, Bay Bridge-facing, floor-to-ceiling windows. Meanwhile, the connected bakery will focus on laminated pastries.
A New Location of Pollo Campero Is Coming to the East Bay

Pollo Campero will soon open a new Bay Area location of its popular fried chicken chain. East Bay Nosh reports that the Guatemalan-born restaurant’s latest store will debut in the city of San Pablo, with a projected opening date of late 2025. The new 2,619-square-foot building will have an attached drive-thru and join a shopping center at the corner of San Pablo Avenue and San Pablo Dam Road.
Rodger Thomas Memorial Kids fishing trip
Today, we had a sponsored trip from the Golden State Salmon Association aboard the Hog Heaven we hosted the Rodger Thomas Memorial Kids fishing trip. When Rodger passed he allocated funding in his estate to be able to provide kids the opportunity to get out on the ocean and experience fishing! The kids had a blast catching 9 Halibut up to 20lbs and 12 Striped bass. We also caught and safely released a salmon it was at that moment that we knew Rodger was looking down on us! Thank you to San Mateo PAL for getting this awesome group together!
