This is the most beautiful restaurant in Alabama, according to OpenTable

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Over the years, Birmingham’s food scene has grown to something that people across the country have taken notice of.

From chef and restaurateur Frank Stitt’s culinary contributions through his different restaurants, such as Highlands Bar & Grill, Bottega and Chez Fon Fon, to James Beard Award-recognized establishments like Helen and Automatic Seafood, there is a lot that the city and surrounding area have given to the food scene.

Now, a national magazine has named one Mountain Brook restaurant as the most beautiful restaurant in Alabama.

Daniel George Restaurant, known as “ dg ,” was named the most beautiful restaurant in the state by the editors of OpenTable, an online reservation website. The list was released in People magazine earlier this month .

“Billowy curtains and a statement mirror wall create a refined setting for a rotating New American menu,” the magazine stated.

The restaurant was started in 2000 through owner Daniel Briggs and former business partner George McMillan III.

“Daniel George was conceived by George and me during our down times as private chefs,” Briggs told Mountain Brook Magazine in 2023 . “There was plenty of spare time and desire for new restaurants in our city. We had trained hard and learned a lot from our jobs before, and along with our different styles, it was an opportune time and recipe for a new spot.”

On OpenTable , dg is rated 4.8 out of five stars with over 1,400 reviews.

The menu features everything from seafood to fresh fruit and vegetables.
