FORT WORTH – A 19-year-old man is in jail after police say he killed five people, including two children, while driving drunk early Monday morning.

Fort Worth police say Eduardo Gonzalez was behind the wheel of a black Chevy Camaro in the northbound lanes of 35W just after midnight when he rear-ended another sedan on the exit ramp to Seminary Drive. The sedan caught fire, and all five people inside were killed.

MedStar confirmed that two of the people killed were children and three were adults. There is no word yet on the victims' ages. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will identify the victims.

Gonzalez was hospitalized with serious injuries. He was later released and then taken to jail, and faces five counts of intoxication manslaughter.

Fort Worth Police understand the repeated incidences bring up questions about road safety in this area, but with headquarters just minutes down the road, officers ensure the public this area is highly monitored and say its everyone's job not to drink and drive, and call in suspicious driving when you see it.

"It is too frequent, that's why we all need to do our part," said Daniel Segura, with the Fort Worth Police Department. "We need to work together as a community. Talk to your family members. If they are going to go out, find a way home."
