There is no doubt that Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky star Angel Reese have ignited the WNBA's spike in attention during the 2024 season.

Both players have increased viewership numbers and merchandise sales . They have also exceeded everyone's expectations on the court since being drafted back in April. Both rookies have played well enough to be named WNBA All-Stars.

Even WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert agrees that these rookies have helped the league in a big way.

Before the WNBA All-Star game on Saturday night, Engelbert spoke on the impact Clark and the rest of the 2024 WNBA rookie class had on the league.

"Yeah, I've been so pleased with Caitlin and all of our rookies... So many of this rookie class are so strong and performing at the highest level, and you guys are all writing about it, which we love. Really pleased with how that's working out," Engelbert said.

Along with Clark and Reese, rookies such as Cameron Brink, Kate Martin, and Kamilla Cardoso have done their part to help the WNBA find new success.

"The number of new fans we're able to bring into this league is exponential from my expectations of what we were going to do. I think fans are finally knowing where to find us and I think this rookie class has brought a lot of attention and is lifting all of our games and all of our players," Engelbert finished.

During the WNBA All-Star game, Clark and Reese will get their first chance to play alongside each other as Team WNBA battles Team USA.
