Ramp to I-25 at Montgomery to close

    By City Desk staff report,

Drivers looking to get onto Interstate 25 from westbound Montgomery Boulevard will have to change their plans.

The loop ramp at that interchange will be permanently closed Tuesday night as part of an ongoing project on I-25. Moving forward, westbound drivers will need to turn left onto the frontage road to enter the freeway. Crews are adding a second left-turn lane to accommodate an anticipated increase in traffic.

The construction project is expected to last through spring 2027 and will include nighttime lane closures on the Interstate.

Find more information on the project here .

    Other construction includes:

    • There will be three travel lanes open in each direction between Comanche Road and Montgomery Boulevard during the daytime after crews shifted travel lanes toward the median to begin work on the outside lanes.
    • During the week, travel lanes on I-25 will close at 8 p.m. each night and reopen by 6 a.m. each morning, in time for the morning commute. Crews will close one lane at 8 p.m. and another lane at 10 p.m., keeping one lane open in each direction. All lanes will be reopened by 6 a.m. each morning.
    • During the weekend, travel lanes on I-25 will close at 10 p.m. each night and reopen by 9 a.m. each morning.
    • Comanche Road at I-25 is reduced to one lane in each direction during this first phase of work to accommodate bridge reconstruction.
    • Comanche Road at I-25 will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Aug. 14 and continuing through September 6. Drivers will be rerouted via Candelaria Road and Montgomery Boulevard. Drivers should anticipate heavy travel delays, plan ahead, and follow posted signage overnight.
