(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man who allegedly was attempting to force his way into a home was arrested after police used chemical munitions, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

Police said on Wednesday, June 19 officers were called to the 2700 block of Monica Drive West near South Academy Boulevard and Hancock Expressway about a Domestic Violence related disturbance. The suspect identified as 49-year-old Lance Colson was allegedly trying to enter a home in the area and had a knife.

When police arrived Colson allegedly ran into a shed in the backyard of the home and police learned Colson was wanted on an active felony stalking warrant. Colson allegedly told officers they were going to have to shoot him. Lengthy negotiations were not able to convince the man to leave the shed and police said they were unable to come to a peaceful resolution.

According to CSPD, chemical munitions were used, Colson left the shed and was taken into custody without further incident.
