    25 News Now celebrates legendary anchor Don Brubaker with luncheon

    VICTORIA, Texas - 25 News Now celebrated Don Brubaker's 40th year anniversary with a special luncheon on Aug. 27.

    Victoria officials such as Mayor Duane Crocker, Police Chief Chuck Young and the fire department's George Gamez and Michael Belt were special guests at the celebration.

    Several speakers had their chance to recognize Brubaker for his contributions to sports and news coverage throughout his four decades at the station. The office of the County Commissioners awarded Don with a gift on behalf of the county.

    25 News Now also awarded Brubaker with several keepsakes such as a personalized jersey, pins and a tribute video.

    The station served catered food and sweet tea for those in attendance.

Having such a person on the sidelines of life makes losing less lonely and winning more celebratory. Simply put, a cheerleader is "an enthusiastic and vocal supporter of someone or something," according to the Oxford Dictionary. When Don Brubaker met his wife, Cecilia, over three decades ago, he knew he’d found his cheerleader.

    VICTORIA, Texas - The Victoria Television Group celebrates Don Brubaker's 40th anniversary at the station. Since 1984, Don has been a part of the Crossroads sports team and now serves as the main anchor for three of our evening newscasts.
