New power substation in Dagsboro delayed

GEORGETOWN — Land purchased by US Wind from Indian River Power in December will have to wait to resume operations as a power substation.

The Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission voted to defer action on the proposal Tuesday.

While there was little said about the proposed use in the application, discussion focused on modifications the applicant wasn’t seeking, like lithium ion battery storage and other storage on the Dagsboro site.

Several times during the debate Vincent Robertson, an attorney representing the county on the board, reminded members that the situations they were posing would constitute a change in use and, therefore, require a new application and hearing
