Cowboys Take Swings On Four High-Upside Prospects

    By Riley Donald,

With a Super Bowl drought approaching 30 years, the Dallas Cowboys seek any sort of answer to help them get back to the pinnacle of success they consistently.

The Cowboys also face a salary cap conundrum with Dak Prescott's contract being rather hefty along with the impending mega-deals for CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons.

While they have won 12 games in three straight regular seasons, it has yet to equate to any playoff success as they have exited the postseason quickly each time.

With the need to find help, and preferably help that can keep the salary cap low, they are working out four prospects from the UFL.

The four players working out for Dallas include Jonathan Garvin, Wyatt Ray, Derick Roberson and John Lovett.

John Lovett, a fullback from Princeton who has bounced around the NFL with a handful of teams, was the UFL's fourth-leading rusher with 422 yards for the San Antonio Brahmas.

Jonathan Garvin, a 2020 draft pick out of Miami, spent time with the Green Bay Packers before spending this season in the UFL with the Birmingham Stallions tallying 3.5 sacks.

Wyatt Ray, a defensive end from Boston College, bounced around in the NFL for a while before landing with the Brahmas in the UFL where he tallied 5.5 sacks this season.

Derick Roberson is another defensive player who was with the D.C. Defenders are spending 2019-2021 with the Tennessee Titans.
