Countdown to Kickoff: Dunbar Crimson Tide

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The high school football season is back in full swing as practice is starting to get underway around the DMV. The Dunbar Crimson Tide are ready for another solid season.

Last year, the team finished with a 9-3, which included a nine-game winning streak. However, they lost to Friendship Collegiate in the DCSAA title game. Friendship seemed to have the Crimson Tide’s number last year as Dunbar lost to them twice. Regardless, Dunbar knows coming into the season, they are still going to have a target on their backs.

“Everybody’s coming, we are the team to beat. Whether we want it or not, or we’ve earned it or not. we are the champs and everybody’s coming to get what we have.”

Last year Dunbar ran the table in the DCIAA stars division going a perfect 6-0 on the year. Now they want to take it one step further and win a state championship.

“To go out with a state championship, that would be history for us because no one at Dunbar has ever won a state championship. So, to leave with a state championship, I’d feel pretty good going into my college year.”
