WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Golf is in full swing again at the newly renovated East Potomac Miniature Golf Course.

It had been closed since March as the nation’s oldest active continuously-operated putt-putt course went through $1 million in much-needed renovation.

“It wasn’t great,” said Damian Cosby, the executive director of the National Links Trust, which took over the course in 2020. “You know, like all things, things need to be taken care of, and then just over the years, for whatever reason, the facility had fallen into a state of disrepair.”

But the course, which is in the National Register of Historic Places, looks so much better five months later.

“All new carpet, new turf for you to putt on. We worked with the National Park Service, and they have a specialized division that deals with historic masonry,” Cosby said of the improvements made.

The renovations are the third ever for the course that opened in 1931, and the first improvements since the 1960s. They did not go unnoticed.

“They did awesome, place looks great,” said Chuck Baker, who played a round with his daughter, and her friends.

They and other visitors created good times as “par” as the eye can see.

The course is now open for preview play, and you can make your reservation by phone or online.

The official grand re-opening of the East Potomac Miniature Golf Course takes place on Sept. 4.
