DeLand, FL - A 35-year-old man was arrested after leading Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) on a high-speed chase exceeding speeds of 135 mph on Monday.

According to the FHP, the pursuit began when troopers spotted a black Kia K5 exhibiting aggressive driving behavior on westbound I-4 near mile marker 129.

After pulling the vehicle over, authorities observed the driver and passenger switching seats.

Troopers confronted the occupants, and while the woman complied by exiting the vehicle with her hands raised, Patrick Gordon, identified as the initial driver, claimed to have no ID before fleeing the scene.

A high-speed chase ensued, with troopers reporting sustained speeds of "135 miles per hour for most of the pursuit."

The chase continued onto State Road 44 and into DeLand before troopers successfully executed a PIT maneuver at a slower speed, causing the Kia to collide with a fence.

Despite attempting to escape on foot, Gordon was apprehended by law enforcement after a perimeter search within a wooded area.

Gordon's extensive criminal history came to light.

Records revealed 31 prior felony charges, with 11 convictions.

Additionally, he had a suspended license with three prior convictions for driving with a suspended license.

A search of the vehicle yielded over three grams of cocaine and fentanyl, along with ammunition.

These discoveries added drug charges to Gordon's growing list of offenses.

Currently booked in the Volusia County jail, Gordon faces a significant number of felony charges, including narcotics violations.

An outstanding warrant from Osceola County further complicates his legal situation.
