A Deltona man speeding on Interstate 4 Saturday night was killed when his SUV struck the back of a vehicle and ran off the road into a tree, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The 28-year-old driver died at the scene of the crash that occurred on eastbound I-4 near Deltona at 11:17 p.m., troopers said.

According to Trooper Migdalisis Garcia, the Deltona man was eastbound in a Nissan Rogue on I-4 above the speed limit when he rear-ended a sedan driven by a 52-year-old DeBary man.

The impact pushed the sedan into the back of a third vehicle, a sport utility vehicle, driven by a 56-year-old Port Orange man.

Garcia said that after hitting the sedan, the Nissan Rogue ran off I-4 and slammed into a tree.

The DeBary and Port Orange drivers were uninjured. The crash remains under investigation.
