The Amerigo Vespucci is the oldest vessel in the Italian Navy. It is considered one of the most beautiful ships of its kind. The tall ship Amerigo Vespucci entered service 92 years ago.
The celebratory departure of the Amerigo Vespucci from Genoa port was attended by the Italian Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto, Chief of Italian Navy Admiral Enrico Credendino, Liguria’s Region President Giovanni Toti, and the Major of Genoa Marco Bucci.
This is a unique opportunity: Besides the traditional values of maritime culture and training of officer students, our message extends to Italian culture at 360°: tourism, scientific research, food, and wine. Vespucci has the role of floating embassy amplified to the maximum during these 20 months. - Vespucci Captain Giuseppe Lai
The Vespucci is a symbol of Made in Italy that crosses seas and oceans and is a driving force for the Italian economy and culture. The world tour turns attention to the Italian brand abroad. It creates the conditions for future international collaborations in the tourism sector.
The arrival of the sailing ship in Argentina - a country where one of the largest Italian communities resides - takes place in the year of tourism of Italian roots in the world, which makes the event even more significant because it will be able to provide a vital contribution both in the consolidation of the remarkable friendship between Italy and Argentina and in the increase in tourist flows between the two nations. - Daniela Santanchè, Italian Minister of Tourism
The tour will combine the traditional training activities of Naval officer cadets and promote the Made in Italy mission to the countries the tall ship will visit in her campaign.
Isle of Elba-based Locman Italy is proud to sponsor the voyage. The watchmaker introduced a new collection of wristwatches featuring the Amerigo Vespucci logo to mark the occasion.
The Amerigo Vespucci Made In Italy world tour will stop in thirty-two ports.
